FLAMBOYANT rapper, Desmond “Stunner” Chideme, is set to launch his ninth album, titled ‘Maivepiko’, this month as he opens up about his social life.
The album, which is set to be dropped before his show in South Africa, carries 12 tracks, plus a bonus song, featuring his daughter.
In an interview with H-Metro, the rapper said some logistics issues delayed its release.
“The album has to be dropped this month-end because I have a show in Joburg.
“There have been delays on the album production since there was one song where we sampled one of Tracy Chaplin’s guitar lines and it has been giving us stress but we are finding a way out around it.
“All my albums are special but this one has a bit of maturity and a mix-up of genres to cater for all my Zim Hip Hop followers, contemporary, urban grooves everything l can do.”
The rapper said that of all the Zim Hip Hop albums released this year, his songs are original.
“Among all other albums released this year, mine consists of original compositions, it’s actual good music and competitive.
“If people are to be fair in judging, it will compete with the rest of the albums for the ‘Album of the Year’ category.
“I featured a number of artists such as Dobba Don, Andy Muridzo and Sekemutema, I even have a track with my daughter as a bonus track.’
The rapper decided to have the launch in South Africa since that’s where he noticed he has massive support.
“I’m going to be in South Africa when this album drops so I will probably have a launch, or small gathering, with my fans.
“According to my numbers on social media, my responsive fans are in South Africa, it’s only right if l give them first.”
