Sudan expels Kenyan ambassador

in a loud diplomatic protest over the issuance of an arrest warrant against Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir by a Kenyan court, officials said yesterday.

Kenya’s third highest court, the High Court, issued the arrest warrant and ordered Attorney-General Githu Muigai and Internal Security Minister George Saitoti to execute it. President al-Bashir is accused of crimes against humanity and genocide, allegedly committed in Darfur, Sudan’s western region, under his watch.The High Court judge, Justice Nicholas Ombija, said Kenya was compelled to arrest and hand over the Sudanese president to the International Criminal Court. In his ruling, Justice Ombija said that the applicants feared the Sudanese leader was about to visit Kenya. – Pana/www.afriquejet.com
