DENDERA music star, Suluman Chimbetu, has heaped praise on women for their resilience in the local music industry.

Sulu, who has worked on a number of projects with women, has been holding shows with female artists, including Amadhuve Shasha.

Speaking to H-Metro, Sulu said it was important that he works with female artists as a way of appreciating them as the world celebrates Women’s Month.

“I feel great working with women. To me, women are our mothers, sisters, grannies, daughters and wives. Of late I’ve been working with Amadhuve Shasha and her band.

“She is a charismatic and humble lady, and a talented artist who plays her staff wholeheartedly and diligently,” he said.

Sulu revealed that he is currently helping the girl child to record music for free at his studio.

“A helping hand is very much essential in our day-to-day life and is indeed greatly commendable. With the few resources that we have, we’ve managed to give the girl child a platform to record their music free of charge at our studios, and supported them in live shows. This is just to mention, but a few.

“Women can be leaders in our society and can make things happen without much supervision. There are some traditional beliefs that need to be shunned,” he said.
