Spillway Pub and Restaurant, which re-opened recently after going through renovations, will get its new showbiz season into motion on Sunday when it hosts Suluman Chimbetu and reggae duo of Cello Culture and Jeffarai.

The family show will bring together reggae and Dendera music fans at the venue that got a massive facelift that is likely to make it an outdoor entertainment joint of choice this year.

Since the joint re-opened a couple of weeks ago, it has attracted many merrymakers that enjoy relaxing and having fun far away from rumble of the capital.

Spillway Pub and Restaurant is adjacent to Lake Chivero dam wall in the environs of Harare-Bulawayo highway.

For the past weeks the place has been a hive of activity during weekends and the pleasure tempo is likely to go higher on Sunday at the first live show at the refurbished venue.

Venue manager Dzikamai Rufu said they have put everything in place for the show and are happy with the response they have received since re-opening.

“The place was closed for about a year for renovations and it is now time to have fun in an environment specifically made to make our patrons happy and comfortable,” said Rufu.

“We are pleased that people seem to have been waiting for the return of their favourite venue because they have been flocking here since we announced our return. We did not expect such big numbers in the early days of re-opening and we would like to thank our patrons for their loyalty.

“Old patrons have expressed satisfaction with the new touches at the venue while new patrons say they have finally found a real place for their weekend outing.

“We are hopeful this show featuring dendera and reggae will bring the first big weekend of 2016 at Spillway. We have more big shows lined up, but people can come any other time for self-catering picnics and braai.”
