Dendera and Rhumba music fans in South Africa are in for a thrilling musical feast this Friday, as Suluman “Sulu” Chimbetu goes head-to-head with the long-absent but much-loved Allen “The Ghost” Ndoda at Newtown Music Factory (formerly Baseline) in Johannesburg.

Set to bid farewell to the month of ay in style, the event promises an epic clash of genres, Dendera and Tshibilika, as well as generations, with both stars bringing distinct flavours and legacies to the stage. The showdown is expected to draw Zimbabwean music lovers from all corners of South Africa.
Sulu, riding high on the success of his latest album Tsapo, is on his South African tour and will be showcasing songs from the new offering. Known for his signature stage presence and tight live band, the Dendera king is expected to deliver hits both old and new, as part of his Tsapo SA Album Tour.

Meanwhile, Allen “The Ghost” Ndoda is making a grand return to the African music scene after spending several years in the United Kingdom. Once a dominant force in Tshibilika circles, The Ghost, who led the celebrated group The Challengers, rose to fame with classic hits such as Waya Waya, Ngizoqala eTsholotsho, and Intwenjani.
His departure at the peak of his career left fans disappointed, but now, Ndoda is back, promising to reignite the flame with nostalgic hits and a sneak peek into his upcoming album, set to be released on August 2.
Phakama “PK” Nkomo, the man behind Underground Entertainment, which is hosting the event, said the show is more than just music, it is about bringing people together through the unifying power of sound.
“This isn’t just another gig. This is a cultural reunion, a celebration of two powerful genres, Dendera and Tshibilika. It’s also a belated birthday celebration for Sulu, who turned a year older on Tuesday,” said PK.
He hinted at surprises lined up for the night, with a stellar list of supporting acts that includes Black Diva among others.
“Fans can expect fireworks. Allen has promised to take us back in time with classics like Vezinhlanhla and Isikomba saseChinhoyi, and Sulu will blow us away with his polished performance and new tracks from Tsapo. – Follow: @themkhust
