Sulu’s best of both worlds

Sunday Mail Bridal Gala while township love rhythms singer – Tanga WekwaSando heads back to his old haunt – the Mannenberg with a new album titled “Sunrise”.
This is not the first time for Sulu to play at the joint, but now that the owner of the joint, Biggie Chinopere-kwei has opened up a garden at the joint for public performances.
Sulu’s show promises to be a massive one considering the spaciousness of the gardens.
“We are promising non-stop Dendera, and this is part of our our build-up to the commemorative gala in memory of my late father,” was all Sulu could say.
However, Sulu’s Friday itinerary will start with a performance at the Sunday Mail Bridal Gala where the likes of Pastor Charles and Amai Olivia Charamba, Alexio Kawara, Selmor Mtukudzi and Tendai Manatsa will also entertain the crowd.
Sungura music icon Alick Macheso brings the house down at Warehouse Galactica in Hillside tonight, where he is expected to churn out crowd favourites like “Chimoko Changu” and “Tafadzwa”, among others.
“Cheso Power” will then entertain Bindura folk at the Coach House Inn during the Bindura Arts Festival to be held tomorrow afternoon and run until the wee hours of Sunday.
The Charamabs, Cephas Mashakada, Madiz, Cindy Munyavi and Diva Hodoye-dzomba are also expected to illuminate the event.
“We realised that there is a lot of untapped talent in Mashonaland Province hence the idea of coming up with this festival whose theme is: ‘Empowering the Youths Through the Arts’.
“We are also going to give an award to Macheso – the Golden Award – in recognition of his exploits in the music industry and also putting the province on the world map,” said Saidi Umtali, the chairman of the festival.
Willom Tight, who has been quiet for some time makes a major comeback with a show at Taste of Africa Restaurant in the capital tonight.
The artiste will also play new songs off his forthcoming new album titled “A Dozen Wishes”.
The 11-track album carries hits such as “Wakaenderei” which is a tribute to the late Sam Mtukudzi, among others.
“Willom had been quiet owing to several factors but now he is back and people should come to Taste of Africa and sample his forthcoming album that is laden with exciting new gems,” said Clyton Arimoso, his manager.
Jazz group of the moment – Kairange – formerly known as Overdrive entertain patrons at Aviators at the Rainbow Towers tonight where they are expected to dish out some of their hits like “Hanky For Mama” and “Kairange” off their two albums, the self-titled “Kiarange” and “In Gear”.
The talented outfit will then proceed to their traditional venue, The Usual Place at the Jameson Hotel in the capital tomorrow night.
Inimitable Victor Kunonga croons at Jazz 105 tonight.
Mike Mopo and Amanda Sagonda, two other artistes who had been silent, are set to bounce back to mainstream music with performances at Fatherhood Peace Project launch to be held at Key College in Unit K tomorrow.
The event will also see various upcoming artistes taking part at the family event that is being hosted in conjunction with the Ministry Education, Sport, Arts and Culture.
These include King Shumba, Junior Fire, Dandemutande and Chawasarira, among others.
