ZIWFAT president Mrs Depinah Nkomo said farmers always have problems accessing inputs while others wait for the last minute.
Mrs Nkomo said another programme launched by the organisation would result in farmers getting fertilisers on credit and paying after harvesting.
“The major challenge is that most women do not have collateral and can not access loans from banks. Under the input programmes, the organisation and a bank we are working with will be the guarantors,” she said.
Speaking at the farmers’ meeting in Harare, Seed Co extension services manager, Mr Ivan Craig advised farmers to consider their ecological regions. He said it was important that farmers know their ecological regions and know the best agricultural activities they could engage in to get maximum profits.
“Farming is not only about growing maize.
One can produce small grains and get high yields and profits. Others may also venture into beef or goat production depending with the regions,” he said.
