A MAN from Nkulumane in Bulawayo has appeared in court for allegedly raping his ex-wife after luring her into a bush on the pretext that he wanted to give her money as part of the property they were sharing.
The man raped his ex-wife twice after she had refused to have sexual intercourse with him. The 61 year-old appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Themba Chimiso facing rape charges. He was remanded out of custody to 23 May for trial after paying a bail of $50.
Prosecuting, Mr Mufaro Mageza said on 25 August 2015, at about 11am the woman was at her son’s place and the accused came to the house too.
“He had come to discuss how to share property with his ex-wife. During the discussion he asked the woman to have sexual intercourse with her but she refused. He then pushed her and she fell onto the floor and he removed her panties. He had sexual intercourse with her once and without her consent. After that he asked his ex-wife not to tell anyone that he had sexual intercourse with her,” said Mr Mageza.
The court heard that after raping the woman he left the place.
“The following day on 26 August 2015 he called his ex-wife at around 10 am and asked her to meet him at a nearby bush as he wanted to give her money which was part of the property they were supposed to share. Instead of giving his ex-wife the money, he had called her for, he pushed the woman and she fell onto the ground. After that he undressed her and had sexual intercourse with her for the second time and also without her consent,” said Mr Mageza.
The woman reported the matter and Chisamba was arrested. She was then referred to the hospital for medical examination.
