adminAMSTERDAM. — Former Nigeria midfielder Sunday Oliseh claims he was sacked as manager by Dutch soccer club Fortuna Sittard for refusing to “participate in illegal activities”. Oliseh was hired by the Eerste Divisie side in December 2016 and turned around the fortunes of the relegation-threatened club who finished 17th last season, leading the way for promotion to the Eredivisie for most of the 2017/18 campaign.
However, the relationship with the club’s hierarchy turned sour over recent months and after four successive losses in the league, Oliseh was relieved of his duties.
“Due to my refusal to participate in illegal activities at Fortuna Sittard, and violate the law, I have been suspended from my duties as coach by the foreign owners of Fortuna,” Oliseh revealed on Twitter before the termination of his contract was confirmed.
