WORLD Kyokushin-kan chairperson and internationally-acclaimed instructor, Hannie Bosman, is scheduled to visit the country next week where he is expected to conduct an intensive two-day training seminar aimed at upgrading local karatekas.
Over 60 participants, from across the country, are set to converge at Empire Gym in Harare from February 23-25 for the event.
Zimbabwe Kyokushin-kan Association public relations and marketing executive, Liberty Nyawani, confirmed the visit.
Bosman, an 8th dan black belt holder who assumed office just over two months ago, is on a worldwide campaign to spearhead the development of the sport, especially in countries where kyokushin-kan is still a fringe martial art.
“The Zimbabwe Kyokushin-kan Association are happy to announce the impending visit to the country of Hennie Bosman, the chairman of the World Kyokushin-kan organisation.
‘’We are humbled by the gesture as we are one of the countries which he has prioritised.
“He was only elected into office very recently and the visit cannot have come at a better time than this when we are also trying to improve the quality of the sport in this country.
“He is coming to conduct a training seminar. It is a welcome development as we are trying our level best to produce karatekas who are good enough to take on the world.
“Over 60 participants will benefit from his expertise and the sport will never be the same again. We are targeting to host an international tournament in August. So this is the right time for our fighters to get trained by one of the best in the world,” said Nyawani.
Bosman is a world-renowned karateka who has also starred in action-packed films like “Lost Boys”, “Doomsday” and “Momentum”
Local instructors Tendai Marange, Mugove Muhambi, and Emmanuel Kudiwa, all 4th dan black belt holders, will assist the South African during the seminar.
