AWARD winning dancing queen, Sandra Ndebele in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Rural Library Trust (ZRLT) donated textbooks to a charity organisation last week, in an effort to promote a reading culture among youths.

Ndebele as the ambassador of the ZRLT visited Forever Young organisation (FYO) at Emthunzini Wethemba Children’s Home in Bulawayo to donate more than 200 textbooks.

“After the Bulawayo Arts Awards, as part of my duties I handed over 200 books to FYO,” she said.

Ndebele who bagged the Best Female Artist award at the Bulawayo Arts Awards said children needed to read instead of engaging in delinquent activities.

“I encourage you to read these textbooks because they will build a good future for your lives,” said Ndebele.

A member of FYO Amanda Gumpo said that the organisation was charity based and did voluntary work, such as encouraging orphans and school children to read.

“We are a non-profit making organisation, which seeks to help out orphans and other children with school stationery and also encourage them to read to better up their school marks. This is a campaign, which everybody can help by donating anything that can assist orphans and school children,” said Gumpo.

Gumpo also expressed delight in having such a renowned and distinguished Zimbabwean artiste, taking time from her schedule to give motivational talks to children.
