Super Falcons, South Africa share spoils

Nigeria are yet to return home since beating the Mighty Warriors 2-0 a week ago. The African champions have been training in South Africa ahead of the warm-up match against the Olympic-bound team.
Banyana Banyana are also preparing for their Afcon reverse tie qualifying match at home next weekend against Zambia.
They carry a 3-1 lead following their first leg victory in Lusaka.
Experienced Nigerian striker Stella Chinyere broke the deadlock 17 minutes after the break, after she latched onto a long ball and fired past Banyana Banyana goalkeeper Roxanne Barker.
But the South Africans showed character and were rewarded with an equaliser 12 minutes before full time.
A cross from the left found veteran Portia Modise, who fired ome from close range to net her 69th goal in her 90th appearance for Banyana.
And it appears the Super Falcons are already looking beyond the Zimbabwe and probably preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations finals, which would be held in October in Equatorial Guinea.
They will play South Africa in a return friendly in Abuja,  just a week after hosting the Mighty Warriors.
The match marked the second game in charge for Nigerian coach Ikhana Kadiri, whose new-look Nigerian outfit must have come as a surprise to the South Africans.
Goalkeeper and captain Dede Uzoaru, midfielders Ebere Ngozi and Mbachu Chinyere, plus striker Oparanozie Ugochi were the only familiar names from the Nigerian side that lifted the Africa Cup of Nations in 2010 trophy in South Africa.
While the Word Cup finalists have been training since leaving Harare, the Mighty Warriors only trooped back into camp yesterday.
Caf has fixtured all the return leg matches on the weekend of June 15-17, deviating from the norm of spacing the two matches by two weeks. Mighty Warriors team manager, Charity Munemo, said they were still hopeful they can turn the tables in Lagos.
“The whole of last week the team was on a
break and resumed training today (yesterday). “We are not under pressure as we will be away and we hope we can come out with a good result.
“South Africa are doing well and held Nigeria but we believe we are also working hard and can get a surprise result,” said Munemo.
