Super goes mining . . . Hunts for assistant

Raymond Jaravaza
HOW Mine has given its recently appointed head coach Bekithemba Ndlovu the green light to choose an assistant of his choice before the start of the 2018 Premier Soccer League season.

Ndlovu signed a two-year performance-based contract.

He takes over from former head coach Kelvin Kaindu who opted against renewing his contract and headed back home to Zambia last year.

a?Itas only fair that Beke (Ndlovu) chooses an assistant of his choice, someone he trusts and is comfortable working with in his new position as the How Mine head coach. We have not given him a time frame to come up with a name but we hope he will have made up his mind when the team starts preparations for the new season,a? said club chairman Paul McAndrews.

The gold miners hope to tie down players who contracts ended on 31 December 2017.

a?We met players whose contracts expired and they are willing to stay at the club. Next week we should have formalised talks with the players and hopefully they will all extend or renew their contracts,a? he said.

Last week head coach Ndlovu told our sister paper the Sunday News that he is targeting a top eight finish at the end of his first season at the helm of How Mine.

a?There might be a loss and a draw in football but when you go into a team, whether as a coach, assistant or player, the only thing you want is to win and that it is upmost on my mind.

a?I have to give confidence to the executive and fans through continuously churning out the results because if I donat they will start asking questions whether they made the right decision to give me the top post,a? said Ndlovu.

Ndlovu said he would stick with most of the players from last seasonas squad with only one or two additions. . . .
