A local retail company, Greens Supermarket extended its gratitude to Highlanders Football Club for the business that they get when the team plays its home games in Bulawayo by donating hampers.
The hampers made up of basic commodities that include rice, flour, mealie meal, bathing soap, salt and flavoured drinks were delivered yesterday to the Highlanders offices and are for the first team as well as members of the secretariat.

Delivering the 49 hampers, Greens Supermarket operations manager Alan Makani revealed that they noticed an exciting trend of sales picking up whenever Highlanders played in Bulawayo.

Makani added that they look forward to establishing a successful relationship with Highlanders.
“We’ve seen it fit to be supporting the Highlanders. In terms of water, we’re the suppliers of their water. This (food hampers) is a gesture from our board of directors.

They’re not here, they’ve gone for holidays but they’re saying Highlanders, thank you for the season. When you play in Bulawayo, you give us mileage in terms of sales. Our stores actually achieve because of your play. So, we want to thank you.
“Let’s hope our relations will not end here but we see big things as we move with you,” Makani said.

Highlanders chief executive officer Ronald Moyo and the first team welfare manager Vezigama Dlodlo received hampers on behalf of the club together with committee member Mgcini Mafu.

Moyo said: “It is encouraging to see that we are still part and parcel of the community. Since time immemorial, our relationship with the community has always been characterised by giving and taking.

“We are both investigating possibilities of cultivating a bigger partnership.” — @ZililoR.
