Supreme Court deputy registrar Mr Golden Mutakiwa (43) died on Saturday in a road accident after the car he was travelling in burst a rear tyre along the Harare-Mutare Road.Mr Mutakiwa was buried at Warren Hills Cemetery yesterday.
He was travelling to Kriste Mambo together with his wife to visit their daughter when the accident occurred in Headlands. The couple was among passengers in the Toyota Noah that was on its way to Mutare on Saturday morning.
The vehicle is said to have burst a rear tyre and rolled three times before it landed on the side of the road on its roof. Mutakiwa died on the spot while other passengers escaped with minor injuries.
The Supreme Court chief registrar Mr Walter Chikwana said the entire Judicial Service Commission has lost a hard working man who executed his job diligently.
“He was a humble-measured workmate. The void he left is irreplaceable because he was one of our pillars in JSC, an oasis of knowledge in view of the layers of experience he had garnered over the years working at the High Court and this office.
“We relied on him so much,” said Mr Chikwana.
Mutakiwa’s uncle, Mr Aleck Kamhunga, said the family has been robbed of a very a responsible man, a unifier and a paragon of virtue.
“It is indeed a sad loss to the family and all those who knew him. Life will never be the same without him,” said Mr Kamhunga.
Mutakiwa joined the Ministry of Justice Legal and Parliamentary Affairs on December 18 1996, as a judges’ clerk. He was promoted to work in the Master of the High Court office as a trust and taxing officer in February 2005.
He became acting deputy Supreme Court registrar in 2008. Mutakiwa was made substantive deputy registrar of the Supreme Court on April 18 this year, the position he held until his death.
He is survived by his wife Lenah and three children,Tanaka (16), Tashinga (9) and Devine (2).
