Surge in Covid-19 cases

ZIMBABWE continues to record a surge in new Covid-19 cases with the country recording 4 872 new cases on Monday.

According to figures from the Ministry of Health and Child Care, the national recovery rate also tumbled to 76 percent from 78 percent the previous day.

“4 872 new cases (all local) and two deaths reported today (Monday). Seven day rolling average for new cases rises to 4 344 from 4 013. 13 239 tests were done, positivity was 36,7 percent. 175 new recoveries: National Recovery Rate falls to 76 percent and active cases go up to 37 321,” reads the update.

In terms of vaccination, 10 909 received their first jab, bringing the cumulative total for the first jab to 3 966 929, while 11 398 got their second jab, bringing the cumulative total for the second jab to 2 988 370.

“As at 13 December 2021, Zimbabwe had 172 012 confirmed cases, including 129 951 recoveries and 4 740 deaths. To date, a total of 3 966 929 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19,” reads the update.
