THE police have finally made a breakthrough in their investigations into the disturbing incidents where graves were being vandalised at Warren Hills cemetery.

Over 85 graves have been vandalised to date.

Last week, Gilbert Mukandatsamba, 34, was allegedly found vandalising Mavis Mukandara’s grave by a security officer Taengwa Mataukwa.

The State has linked Mukandatsamba to the 83 graves that were destroyed on April 15 and is claiming that he went into hiding after the cases were widely publicised.

Mukandatsamba appeared in court over the weekend charged with vandalising the graves and will be back in court today for bail considerations.

The cost of the vandalism is estimated to be US$45 000.
