Suspected car thief ‘Dash’, faces additional charges in high-profile case

IN a developing story that has captured local attention, suspected car thief, Brighton Chipunza, who is on trial for allegedly stealing a South African-registered Toyota Fortuner last year from a car wash could be facing additional charges as he has been linked to yet another another vehicle theft case involving a luxury Mercedes Benz C180, valued at US$ 13 000.

According to police, Chipunza is accused of taking the posh white sedan from South Africa and subsequently selling it to a man in Bulawayo through a local car sale.

The shocking twist in this case has drawn the interest of Interpol agents from South Africa, who are collaborating with Zimbabwean police to investigate the alleged thefts.
