Suspected robber “Madhanzi” sought by Lupane Police for string of crimes

POLICE in Lupane are looking for a suspected only identified as Madhanzi who has been terrorising people and robbing them of their belongings.

No other details are known yet about the suspect, who has been named in several robberies.

Matabeleland North police spokesperson Inspector Glory Banda said the suspect committed the latest crime on March 2 in Lupaka.

Circumstances are that on 2 March the complainant left Lupaka Business Centre proceeding to his place of residence. Along the way, the accused person emerged from behind and held the complainant by the neck and strangled him demanding money.

He forcibly took his watch, belt and US$103 cash and fled from the scene, police alleged.

A report of plain robbery was made to the police on 7 March.

Insp Banda appealed to citizens to abide by the law and support police efforts in fighting crime.

“We hereby encourage our peace-loving citizens to join hands with the police in the fight against all forms of crime. Criminals should be exposed so that the law takes its course and we reduce the fear of crime in our society,” he said.
