TWO suspected drug dealers were arrested in Rusape on Monday after their alleged customer, who stole from his mother to buy drugs, implicated them to police.
Luis Tinashe Sibanda (28), of 2261 Old Magamba, was arrested after his mother reported him for allegedly stealing household property.
During questioning, Sibanda allegedly admitted to stealing the items to buy drugs from Philip Chinganga (27), and Richard Charuza (68), both of Vengere high density suburb.
Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the arrests. He said detectives raided Chinganga’s house with Sibanda and recovered several drugs, leading to the arrest of Chinganga and Charuza.
Sibanda faces theft charges while Chinganga and Charuza face charges of dealing in dangerous drugs.
“On June 8, 2026 police detectives arrested Luis Tinashe Sibanda (28) on allegations of stealing his mother’s household goods. Upon being interviewed by the detectives, Sibanda confessed to stealing from his mother and exchanging the goods for drugs at house number 180 BC Vengere, Rusape.
“On the same date, a raid was conducted at the said house. Sibanda indicated one of the young men loitering at the homestead as the buyer of a hood jacket and a suit but the unknown young man ran away. “A search conducted in the house led to the identification of Chinganga, seated in one of the rooms. A search was conducted in his presence, which led to the recovery of ten black plastic bags with loose dagga, 22x100ml of Broncleer cough syrup and 78 sachets of crystal meth. The accused person was subsequently arrested. “Further information was received to the effect that the drugs sold at the house were stored at a room rented by Charuza. A search was conducted at Charuza’s place of residence and 300 sachets of crystal meth were recovered in one room that was locked. The accused person was subsequently arrested and escorted to ZRP Rusape Central Police Station and investigations are underway. Police continue to warn members of the public against dealing in dangerous and banned drugs. All those with information on dealers and suppliers of dangerous drugs should approach their nearest police station,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
