SUSPECTED THIEF STONED

A SUSPECTED thief was stoned and left for dead after being accused of stealing a solar panel on his way from a drinking spree.

The assailant, Tinei Muketiwa (31) is now facing attempted murder charges.

Muketiwa appeared before Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa, who remanded him in custody, pending his bail hearing on November 7.

The court heard that on Saturday, Muketiwa met the complainant, who was on his way from a beer binge at around 5am, and accused him of stealing his solar panel.

Muketiwa allegedly pelted the complainant with bricks and also assaulted him with an iron bar before leaving him unconscious.

The complainant was assisted by a passer-by who took him to Parirenyatwa Hospital where he is said to be in a coma.
