Suspended town clerk Chisango recalled to testify

Suspended Harare Town Clerk, Engineer Hosiah Chisango, has been recalled to testify before the Harare Commission on Thursday, following the emergence of fresh details during the ongoing public hearings.

Chisango’s previous testimony revealed that councillors had parcelled out over 5 000 illegal plots ahead of last year’s harmonised elections.

He also alleged that councillors had squandered millions of dollars on weekly workshops and seminars, claiming he was overruled by councillors who demanded bribes.

Chisango is expected to answer to new allegations, including the non-remittance of funds by Harare Quarry and its secret agreements with other companies.

He will also be grilled on the rationale behind rejecting a US$350 000 local ERP system in favour of a multimillion-dollar foreign alternative.
