SHEASHAM coach Lizwe Sweswe believes his charges showed character in their 1-0 win over struggling Cranborne Bullets in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter at Bata Stadium on Saturday.
They had suffered a defeat to fellow newcomers, Simba Bhora, the previous week and Sweswe was happy they managed to bounce back.
Midfielder Hilary Bakacheza’s goal, in the third minute, was enough for the Construction Boys to pick some key points as they battle to drift away from the drop zone.
“We scored in the third minute and held on to that one nil lead and that’s character, which we lacked in our last games.
“Congratulations to the boys, they did very well.
“They played well, especially in the first part of the game where we could have scored two or more goals.
“Now, what is important is to make sure that we collect maximum points in our next game.”
Sweswe felt they scored a clear goal despite protests from Cranborne that some calls from the match officials favoured them.
“I don’t know from their own side of view but from us we scored a clear good goal and I don’t know what they were complaining about.
“Where we are, there is pressure.
“It’s normal to have pressure in football but what is important is that if you get one chance you should score and, of course, you will miss some.
“We work more in training sessions and try to work on our finishing but the positive thing is they are creating those chances.
“Each game that is left is important to us,” he said.
