At Lidoda Duvha, Sweswe, who had stints with local giants Highlanders and Dynamos, will link with former Warriors and DeMbare gaffer Sunday Chidzambwa who has been given a two-year contract extension at the club.
Another Zimbabwean player at Amakhosi, former Black Mambas striker Brian Amidu, will be on loan at the Limpopo province-based side until the end of the season.
The Zimbabwean pair are set to be added to the Lidoda Duvha squad that assembled in Polokwane for the start of pre-season training on Monday.
Centre-back Sweswe will be purchased outright to strengthen the defence, while Amidu will spend the season on loan at the club as he acclimatises to local football after joining Chiefs in January.
Sweswe joined Chiefs ahead of the 2009-10 season from Dynamos, having also previously played for Manning Rangers.
Now into his 30s, and with the arrival of Morgan Gould and Siboniso Gaxa, as well as the expected signing of Mulomowandau Mathoho, Sweswe has been deemed surplus to requirements at Naturena.
Amidu is seen by Chiefs management as a future star in the same mould as his countryman Knowledge Musona.
But they are eager for him to gain PSL experience at another club, rather than in the pressured environment at Chiefs. He joined the team for the second half of last season, but did not make an appearance for the club.
“Both deals are basically done, the chairman (David Thidiela) is just tying up some loose ends,” club spokesman Tendani Thidiela told South African media yesterday.
Dynamos goalkeeper Washington Arubi’s departure from the Glamour Boys to Black Leopards is now imminent with reports indicating that negotiations were almost complete.
Thidiela also confirmed that Kingston Nkhata was due back in the country yesterday and would complete his move away from Leopards to Chiefs.
“We have already sent them the tax invoice for the player and I believe he has agreed personal terms with them, so it is just for him to sign.”
Meanwhile, ABSA Premiership champions Orlando Pirates have reportedly snapped up another Dynamos player Takesure Chinyama on a 100 000 rand monthly salary. The parties have agreed terms and the big striker is due to undergo a medical test this week.
Castle Lager Premiership champions Dynamos are likely to be hardest hit by the e-Diski craze as Denver Mukamba is also set to cross the Limpopo for trials with University of Pretoria.
The Harare giants have had their blockbuster match against arch rivals Highlanders erratically and irritatingly postponed by the league and now are likely to face Bosso without their tried and tested stars who could stand the Barbourfields heat.
