The association’s provincial technical director Prosper Jaya said eight schools from outside Bulawayo had confirmed participation.
“Peterhouse, Prince Edward, Ellis Roberts, Gateway, Mutare Boys and Mutare Girls as well as a few teams from Botswana will participate in the tournament,” Jaya said.
The local teams that have confirmed participation are St Columbus, Milton and Inyathi Youth Centre.
Jaya appealed to all the clubs and local teams from around the city to grace the event so as to familiarise themselves with the sport.
“We are inviting pupils from schools that are not participating to come to the event so as to get anidea of how the game is played,” he said.
The summer open tournament is a warm up for the players who will take part in the upcoming Four Nations tournament that will include Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania and Zimbabwe next month.
