The Area Public Prosecutor for the Bulawayo magistrates’ courts, Mr Simon Nleya, said the State decided not to place her on remand after the complainants, Ms Sibusisiwe Ngwenya and Ms Zodwa Ngwenya indicated that they no longer wanted to press charges against her.
The decision not to press charges against her was based on the strength of a promise she made that she would buy them another house.
Court sources said Clr Khoza stated that her children, one based in South Africa and the other in the United Kingdom, indicated that they would contribute funds towards the buying of the house.
It is understood that Khoza (55), who stays in Old Lobengula, and is Ward 12 councillor, sold a House Number 8373 in Pumula East in 2006.
The house belonged to her late mother and when she died she told the family to give the house to Khoza’s daughter, Ms Anita Ncube who grew up with her grandmother.
“She sold the house to Sibusisiwe Ngwenya in 2006 for Z$6 million. Sibusisiwe bought the house on behalf of her relative Zodwa Ngwenya who was outside the country at that time,” said a source who spoke on condition of anonymity.
“All along the owners of the house were renting it out until March this year when Khoza’s daughter, Ms Ncube, came back from South Africa and evicted the tenants.”
