Alick Macheso’s estranged second wife, Tafadzwa Mapako, on Monday rejected the musician’s temporary maintenance offer saying his proposal does not conform with the lifestyle he introduced to her and their children.Through her lawyer David Ngwerume, Mapako wrote to Macheso rejecting the proposal that Macheso had tabled as a temporary arrangement pending paternity tests.
“Following your letter dated Wednesday April 23, our client instructs us that she is not accepting your interim maintenance proposal as it does not meet the needs thereof.
“The proposal does not conform with the lifestyle that your client introduced (to) her and the children and that the negotiations are not yielding anything towards settlement,” reads the letter.
Macheso had offered Tafadzwa $200 per week, $350 per month for rentals and $100 for medicals.
Macheso’s lawyer Norman Mugiya of Mugiya and Macharaga said his client was willing to look after the children only if he makes sure they belong to him.
“The position of my client is clear that if the children belong to him he will take care of them but now these people are not coming for the DNA tests,” said Mugiya.
He added that they were taking action on Tafadzwa’s refusal to act according to their agreement.
“We have agreed that the two children must go for DNA tests and she is failing to do so. I think there is need for us to take action because she is evasive,” said Mugiya.
Macheso and Mapako’s marriage collapsed amid serious counter-accusations between the two. They intended to reach an out-of-court settlement that is failing to materialise.
