SIMBA Bhora fans were left frustrated with their team’s poor show when they settled for a goalless draw against Green Fuel at Wadzanai on Saturday.
Indeed, it was a dull performance from the champions, who looked out of sorts all day long.
Some fans described the match as their worst game ever at their fortress.
Others blamed the team’s coaches for fielding one striker and defensive minded midfielders against what they believed to be a lightweight team.
The visitors had a day to remember, as they outclassed the hosts in both halves.
This result means Simba Bhora have now gone for two matches without finding the net at their fortress.
They had played out another goalless draw against MWOS in their previous match at home.
However, this was their seventh clean sheet of the season in nine games, thanks to defender Webster Tafa, who made a crucial line clearance.
They are making their presence felt in their bid to reclaim the championship, having now accumulated 19 points.
Simba Bhora coach Joel Luphahla admitted that the visitors stretched them to their limits.
“Greenfuel always plays good football when playing away from home. We knew what we were up against, and my boys tried their best.
“We failed to convert the half chances we created, and I think getting a point was a fair result for both teams. We didn’t create many chances like we did in our previous game against Kwekwe United.
“It’s not ideal to get a point when playing at home, but we’re happy we didn’t lose the match. We’ll continue working hard, we have another difficult game coming up on Saturday,” said Luphahla.
His counterpart, Taurai Mangwiro, hailed his players for keeping the champions in their tracks.
“I thought it was a good game from the boys. We came here with the desire to win all points, we were very clear with our intentions.
“The fact that we limited Simba Bhora to few chances shows we wanted more.
“We had gone for four games without scoring before this match. I just want to salute my boys, and I couldn’t have asked for more,” said Mangwiro.
Simba Bhora are coming to the capital this for a date with Scottland this Saturday.
