Tagara confident

NATIONAL Athletics Association of Zimbabwe president Tendai Tagara believes they are on the right path as they prepare their national teams set to take part in different upcoming international events. The national association held their inaugural Super Eight meet on Sunday at the National Sports Stadium that featured predominantly the top junior athletes.

The competition was part of their preparations for the various upcoming events including the Africa Youth Games in Botswana next month, the World Junior Championships scheduled for the United States in July and the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China, in August.

Tatenda Musarurwa of Slac Athletics Club was among top athletes who turned on the style as he won the boys’ Under-20 100m event in 10.7secs.
He went on to win the 200m event in 21.8secs.

The senior men 200m title went to Itayi Vambe of Millennium Club. Abraham Mapiravana came tops in the boys’ Under-16 100m and 200m events in 11.2secs and 23.05secs respectively.
