THE National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe president, Tendai Tagara, says he is happy with the performance of Gabriel Mvumvure at the just-ended World Athletics Championships in Moscow, Russia.Mvumvure reached the semi-finals of the 100m event while long distance runner, Cephas Pasipamire, failed to compete in the men’s marathon after picking an injury on Thursday.

Tagara said reaching the semi-finals was a good achievement for any athlete.
“The performance was good, we reached the semi-finals. Pasipamire did not participate because he picked an injury on Thursday, he had a knock on the ankle.

“Mvumvure ran very well, even if you look at his times.
“If you look at the 100m event it has about 64 athletes and reaching the semi-finals is a good result,” said Tagara.

We are just hoping for a better result in 2015. We are sending them for scholarships, Dumisani Bhebhe is going for a scholarship and he will be starting in January.

“The position of Gabriel Mvumvure is that he can get sponsorship for himself but besides that we are working to get scholarship for him, Pasipamire and Ngoni Makusha”.
