POLICE in Bulawayo have urged the public to take the sick to hospital after a man died at a Madzibaba shrine following complaints of severe stomach pains.

The man Ngonidzashe Shoko (41) from Thorngroove died while seeking healing at a Johane Masowe shrine on Wednesday, Deputy Bulawayo Police Provincial Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Msebele said.

“Ngonidzashe Shoko from Thorngroove complained of severe stomach pains. He was taken to the Madzibaba shrine for prayers and healing. Shoko’s condition worsened around 4PM, prompting a call for an ambulance. Upon arrival, the ambulance crew declared Shoko dead. The police then attended to the scene,” she said.

Asst Insp Msebele urged the public to seek medical attention from hospitals before considering any other medical consultation.

“People should take the sick to the hospital rather than taking them to shrines before seeking medical help,” she said.
