WARRIORS defender, Gerald Takwara, says he wants to use his time in Saudi Arabia to show he still can play at a very high level.

He secured a move to Saudi First Division side FC Ohod.

The 27-year-old moved to the Middle East from South African National First Division side, Venda FC, last week.

“Firstly, I just want to thank God who made this possible,” he told H-Metro.

“I also want to thank my former club for the opportunity they gave me.

“They gave me a platform to perform and to be scouted.

“It wasn’t easy for me, but because of God’s grace, I am here today.

“Signing this deal is something which has made me happy.

“I think I made the right move for my career, and I am happy with that decision.

“I have no regrets whatsoever because I am happy here.”

He added:

“My former team is good and I learnt a lot there.

“I learnt a lot of things that helped me develop as a player.

“I also got a national team call-up and played in the AFCON tournament while playing for Venda.

“My stay there was amazing.”

Takwara says he is looking forward to a great season.

“I hope to have a good season as I begin my journey with my new team.

“My aim is to do the best for the team.

“I want to perform better than last season and contribute to the targets of my new team.

“I will do all I can to ensure that we achieve that target. “I’m someone who is always ready for any challenge.

“Yes, it’s a new team and new league, but I think I can adapt,” he said.

Takwara joins national teammate and Al-Shoulla FC midfielder Ovidy Karuru in the Saudi Arabian second-tier league.

Former Warriors’ skipper Knowledge Musona is also in that oil-rich country at top-flight side Al Tai.
