AMBITION has turned into action as Zifa Southern Region Division One side Talen Vision has started construction of its long-awaited stadium in Esigodini.

Club chairman Elton Sinyosi confirmed the development after unveiling the first official artistic impressions of the project.
“Yes, it’s true, we have started construction of our stadium. It’s a big project that kicked off last Friday,” said Sinyosi.

He explained that the idea was inspired by a recent visit to Ngoma in Gwanda, where a modern sporting facility has transformed rural life through sport. “We wanted to see how they did it and take guidance from their example. We aim to have our ground turfed by December. Our club needs a home,” Sinyosi said.

The Ngoma arena, now in its seventh year, recently hosted the Maphumani Invitational Tournament, welcoming 13 primary and 13 secondary schools while also distributing sports equipment. It has become a model of grassroots development and opportunity.

The Talen Vision stadium’s structural, civil and architectural designs are being led by Gwanda-born engineer Thokozani Gama. Umzingwane Rural District Council chief executive Ndumiso Mpofu revealed that the club was offered four to five hectares of land for the facility, while Trukumb Mining Enterprises comes in as the club’s main sponsor.

Sinyosi said the club is aiming high. “We want a coliseum of sound and colour, one of the most breathtaking stadia in Zimbabwe. The roof will light up in the home team’s colours and reflect noise back into the stands to amplify atmosphere,” he said.

Plans show a 5 000 to 8 000 seater stadium, with a six-lane athletics track for national track and field events. The design also accommodates swimming, netball, volleyball and basketball, while entrances and parking are mapped for convenience and grandeur.

Civil works and construction companies with experience in stadium projects have been engaged, and several international firms are being considered to ensure the facility meets global standards.

Talen Vision’s vision is now moving from sketches to bricks and mortar, promising a future where sport, community and inspiration come together in Esigodini.
