MATCH Day Eight of the Zifa Southern Region Division One League got off to an exciting start on Friday as Talen Vision hammered Khami United 5-0 at Chiefs Village, to move into second place with 16 points, just one behind log leaders Hwange.
The convincing victory gave Talen Vision a major boost in the race for top honours in the Pacific Breeze sponsored league and underlined their growing confidence.
Attention now shifts to Saturday’s fixtures where several clubs will be eager to collect crucial points, with the pace building up in the campaign.
At White City Stadium, Nkayi United will host Mega Watt in a midday encounter. Both teams enter the match tied at 11 points.
Nkayi United, will be counting on home support as they seek a positive result, while their visitors are equally determined to earn a victory on the road.
Later in the day, at the same venue, Bulawayo City taking on Victoria Falls Herentals at 3PM. Both clubs have shown flashes of quality this season and will be hoping to put together strong performances.
White City B Arena will host two matches, beginning with Zebra Revolution against Aqua Stars. The two sides are desperate for points and fans can expect a tightly contested affair.
Later at the same venue, Bosso90 face Jordan FC in what promises to be another tough contest. Bosso90 have relied heavily on youthful talent this season, while Jordan FC will be hoping their discipline and experience can carry them through.
At Chiefs Village, Bulawayo Warriors square off against Zim Saints in one of the standout fixtures of the weekend. Zimbabwe Saints remain among the league’s well-known clubs and will be under pressure to deliver a good result against an improving Warriors side.
In Hwange, log leaders Hwange FC entertain Mosi Rovers as they aim to protect their place at the summit of the table. Playing at home could give Hwange an advantage to open wide in the lead, although Mosi Rovers are not an easy opponent.
Casmyn travel to Turk Mine for a date with Imbizo.
Blackrock and Njube Spurs will battle for points at Chakona Grounds in a match expected to test both teams’ defensive strength and attacking ability.
