HAILING from the dormitory town of Chitungwiza, the founder of Trapsu (Trap Sungura), Tanto Wavie, says he is living his dream.

The talented rapper is back and looking to reassert his place at the top, with new visuals for his song, ‘‘Dzinga Munyama.’’

On his latest project, Tanto brings back the 80s feel to his visuals.

The versatile artist has managed to win the hearts of many.

The youthful chanter said he was  surprised by the reception the visuals have been receiving.

“Honestly, I’m surprised by the way people are enjoying my latest project.

Dzinga Munyama is a song off my album, Sungura Museve, and the 80s concept on the video that’s me.

“I have always wanted to connect young people with the oldies fusion and also I think it’s a way to connect with the elderly through music,” said Tanto Wavie.

The singer said his fusion has always been influenced by local sungura classics and it has taken him to greater heights.

“Unlike most of my peers, I always spend more time in the studio working rather than just going out begging for gigs and looking for help, begging for favours.

“That has really helped in making me marketable and I believe my sound has managed to attract the right people,” said Tanto Wavie.

“I did a song titled ‘John Chibadura’ and it went viral, I have always loved the Sungura fusion, that’s why I decided to blend it with the new school hip hop.

“I think it is really working for me.

“I have also managed to get recognition from NAMA to perform on their big stage,” he added.

Now, as he continues along his path, the star’s excitement about Trapsu extends beyond his own work to the new names making a splash in the genre he created.
