TRAPSU musician Tanto Wavie has released his brand new EP, ‘Rudo Ibofu 2’, the much-anticipated successor to his first project ‘Rudo Ibofu’.
Dropped last Friday, the six-track EP continues the story that won him a loyal following, blending trap, love ballads and sungura vibes into his unique sound.
The project carries six tracks, ‘Unondiitira’, ‘Makazvinzwa Naniko’, ‘Zvatave’, ‘Ndiwe’, ‘Jeri Rerudo’ and ‘Zvawaida’.
Tanto Wavie described the early response to the project as encouraging.
“The reception is okay because people are vibing with it and connecting to the music. That’s always the goal,” he said.
Listeners have already highlighted ‘Ndiwe’ and ‘Jeri Rerudo’ as standouts, while the opener ‘Unondiitira’ sets the emotional tone for the project. Beyond the EP, Tanto Wavie revealed that he has bigger ambitions for his self-styled sound.
He plans to begin selling TrapSu, his signature fusion of trap and sungura, to other artists in the coming months. The vision, he explained, is to spread the genre and give fellow musicians a chance to experiment with the TrapSu identity he has pioneered.
With Rudo Ibofu 2, Tanto Wavie not only proves his staying power as one of the most inventive acts in Zimbabwean hip-hop, but also signals his determination to turn TrapSu into a movement that stretches beyond his own catalogue.
