FORMER Dynamos and Highlanders goalkeeper Tendai Tanyanyiwa is yet to pen a contract with South African Premiership side Pretoria University where he was the goalkeepers’ trainer last year.He is in the process of negotiating a new  contract. His deal with the club runs out on Monday but he remains confident of staying on with the Pretoria side.

Tanyanyiwa has been with the Pretoria-based team for the past seven years previously as their goalkeeper and later on goalkeepers’ coach.

“I’m busy negotiating my contract extension. My present contract ends in June and I was supposed to meet the AmaTuks management on Tuesday morning but unfortunately something came up,” he said.

Tanyanyiwa said he expected to have concluded a deal by the end of next week.

He said he looked forward to staying at the club where he said he had enjoyed a good time  from the days he was the club’s goalkeeper in the National First Division.

“Ever since I have been involved in the beautiful game I have never been so happy like now. Here the set up is up to standard and the facilities are world class,” said Tanyanyiwa.

AmaTuks have started preparing for the season and the Zimbabwean was involved with the team on Wednesday, working out with the goalkeepers.

Among those he was training is Warriors’ goalkeeper Washington Arubi.

“Football is like gambling but I love to continue working for the Pretoria-based side as long as I live,” said Tanyanyiwa.

He is not the first Zimbabwean to work at the club with the late Clive Williams having opened an avenue for Dominic Sithole and David Mkandawire.

Obadiah Tarumbwa, defender Obert Moyo and defensive midfielder Lionel Mtizwa later joined the  same club.
