Talented songstress Tariro Ruzvidzo, popularly known as Tariro neGitare, tonight joins forces with superstar Oliver Mtukudzi at Alliance Francaise in a show that is meant to celebrate music and guitarists.
Dubbed “Magitare”, the show is the first of the monthly gigs that will feature the country’s top guitarists before going regional, according Tariro neGitare.
“This is going to be an interesting show and people will witness two worldclass performers in action. I am, however, excited about having Tuku on my show for the first time. I have featured at his shows before and it is a dream come true to have him on mine,” she said.
The 28-year-old promised fans a taste of her new music as she will perform songs from her upcoming 13 track album “Chipo Changu”.
Acoustic Night’s emerging vocalist and guitarist Carol Masawi will also perform at the two-hour show that is expected to round up by 10pm.
Future editions of the “Magitare” gigs will rotate in different venues.
Tariro neGitare brings a breath of fresh air to the local music industry since making her entrance in the music business.
While she started off as a band member for prominent singer Edith WeUtonga five years ago, the last two years have seen Tariro neGitare curving her mark in her solo career.
She has established herself as a successful afro-soul musician. She is well travelled and has collaborated with Germany-based band Jamaram together with local artistes in an album that is set for release next year.
