A 29-YEAR-OLD Harare man who robbed a taxi driver of his vehicle at knife-point in Waterfalls, Harare, last week has been arrested. Tafadzwa Matala was arrested in the city centre by detectives after he was seen driving the unregistered Toyota Raum.
He is assisting police with investigations. Police said last Friday at around 1am, Matala was at Zindoga Shopping Centre where he was drinking beer and later sought the services of a sex worker.
The sex worker is alleged to have charged him $5 for the services and they agreed on the fee.
It is alleged that after being intimate, Matala informed the sex worker that he had left his money at home and that she should accompany him to pick it up.
He then hired a taxi and was taken to his home in Waterfalls where he left the taxi and the sex worker outside.
Matala returned a few minutes later holding two chickens and gave one to the driver as fare for the taxi and the other one to the sex worker.
This did not go down well with the two and an argument arose, resulting in the taxi driver being assaulted by Matala.
The sex worker fled the scene and Matala produced a knife and followed her. He failed to locate her and on his way back to his house, he met the taxi driver and threatened to stab him if he did not surrender his vehicle.
Matala drove off and was spotted on Friday afternoon driving the vehicle in the city centre, leading to his arrest.
