Global superstar Taylor Swift was surprised at her rehearsal for The BRIT Awards at London’s O2 yesterday, with the IFPI award after being named the world’s most successful artiste of 2014.
Frances Moore, CEO of global music organisation IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry during rehearsals for Brits, presented Taylor in person with the gong.
The popstrel (25) looked understated in a navy jumper and black jeans as she posed for photographs with the silver award, with her long bob styled sleek and straight.
She received the prestigious award honouring her as the most popular recording artiste worldwide across all music formats including physical sales, downloads and streaming.
The stunner, no stranger to the number one position, leads a chart that features artistes such as Sam Smith, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé, Coldplay, One Direction and Pink Floyd.
Taylor’s critically acclaimed fifth studio album in 1989 topped iTunes sales charts in over 95 countries on its release and has sold over 8,6 million albums worldwide to date.
It was the highest selling release since 2002 and the top selling album of 2014 in the US, where it has now spent 11 weeks at number one on the Billboard 100 chart.
She is the only artiste in music history to have three albums hit the one million plus first-week sales figure, and the first artiste since The Beatles to log six or more weeks at number one in the US with three consecutive studio albums.
Meanwhile, One Direction were crowned the biggest UK artiste in the world.

Simon Cowell added: “I am absolutely delighted – and immensely proud – that One Direction were the biggest UK act in the world in 2014.

Taylor, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran are three of the acts confirmed to play at this years BRIT awards on Wednesday.
