Teacher remanded in custody

A RUSAPE teacher, who was arrested on five counts of aggravated indecent assault and another five of indecent assault, was last week remanded in custody when he appeared before Rusape magistrate. The teacher was not asked to plead when he appeared before magistrate Mr Shingi Mutiro on initial remand. He was remanded in custody to November 18.

Mr Mutiro also ordered the alleged victims to undergo medical examination at a Government hospital. The teacher committed the alleged offences from October 1 to October 23 2015.

“The accused person is facing 10 criminal counts, five being charges of aggravated indecent assault in which he touched and inserted his fingers in the genitals of the complainants on different occasions. “He is facing five more charges of indecent assault. He fondled the breasts and buttocks of the complainants,” Mr Chawatama told the court.

The complainants are all Grade Five pupils, whom he teaches.
