UPCOMING musician, Obvious ‘Chomubako’ Dziwanyika, has dropped his first Jiti-tune dubbed ‘Swedera Mudhuze’.
Obvious, who is also a primary school teacher, said he will not quit his profession but will find a balance between the class and shows.
“I’ve always wanted to be a musician and a teacher at the same time.
“Therefore, I’m devoted to both career paths.
“This is also a means of my survival as I can’t rely on one source of income from the academic side but I also have to earn something from my creative side.
“So, I will not deny myself the chance to make music and teach students at the same time.” The single, which explores a special type of Jiti called Chibhanduru which originated from Mhondoro, draws inspiration from the late Mbuya Stella Chiweshe. In an interview, Obvious said the song was inspired by marital disputes and separations fuelled by negative-minded third parties.
“I realised that many marriages are falling apart because of third parties who do not have a sense of reconciliation. Instead of having two married people sit down and express their grievances, and find a solution for the future of the family, some couples seek advice from negative souls that encourage revenge instead of dialogue.
“I also had the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence in mind when I wrote this song hoping that it will become an anthem along with the various activism messages during this period,” he said.
