Some teachers have been defying the Government by conducting holiday lessons.

Kuwadzana 8 Primary School is conducting vacation lessons.

Aware of their defiance, teachers ordered Grades 6 and 7 to enter in a few numbers to avoid drawing attention.

Some Ardbernie Primary School teachers are conducting holiday lessons at a church opposite their school.

Students from Grade 2 to 7 met at Waterfalls Islamic Institute for holiday lessons.

One of the teachers told H-Metro that parents had pleaded with them to conduct extra lessons.

“Parents are to blame for this because they have been forcing us to keep their children busy to prevent them from engaging in drug and substance abuse,” said one the teachers

“We are aware of the Government directive to stop conducting holiday lessons since the term was never disturbed.

“Parents are worried about their mischievous children. We could not resist the offer since it adds dollars to our pockets and helps us complete the syllabus on time for better results,” she said.

The Ardbenie Primary School deputy headmaster expressed ignorance about teachers defying Government directives.

“The school never allowed holiday lessons. If there are teachers conducting such lessons, they must be doing it outside school premises,” he said.

Government ordered schools not to conduct holiday lessons, but a number of teachers have been cashing on physical and online holiday lessons.
