TEACHERS are the real drivers of the transformation of people’s lives and should be capacitated and celebrated.

This was said by Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Apollonia Munzverengwi.

Speaking at a World Teachers Day celebrations, hosted by the Education Coalition of Zimbabwe (ECOZI) and Farming Communities Education Trust (FACET) at Wedza Primary School on Wednesday, Minister Munzverengwi said teachers should be celebrated.

“Let’s all celebrate the good work our teachers are doing in our societies.

“They are the real drivers of transformation of our people’s welfare.

“Teachers are pivotal in change management.

“For instance, climate change, Covid-19 and other pandemics have impacted on our education system and the teacher was left with no option, but to adapt and fit into the new normal.

“According to UNESCO 2022, the World Teachers Day theme is ‘The Transformation Of Education Begins With The Teacher.’

“With this in mind, it is therefore mandatory that teachers need to be capacitated in this everchanging education system that is being driven by various forces,” said Minister Munzverengwi.
