THE three teams which were awarded three points following walkovers on Town United will have the points thrown away, an official in the Zifa Central Soccer League has said.
Town United were expelled from the league after failing to fulfil three of their opening fixtures and their slot has since been given to Zvishavane Stars.
Gweru City, Nkayi United and Chomumvuri Pirates had been awarded three points on a three nil scoreline after the Beitbridge side failed to fulfil the fixtures.
Central Soccer League board member Stanley Chapeta confirmed that the league had thrown away points awarded to the three clubs.
“I can confirm that Town United has been expelled from the league and its place has been taken over by Zvishavane Stars who will begin their campaign against Gaths Mine. Points which had been awarded to the three teams which benefited from Town United’s non-fulfillment of fixtures have been thrown away.
“Instead the teams will now play Zvishavane Stars on rescheduled dates. The initial fixtures list we were using will remain in place with the only change being that of replacing Town United with Zvishavane Stars,” he said.
Meanwhile, seven matches have been lined up across the region, with the pick of the fixtures being the match pitting log leaders Tongogara who will battle it out with second placed Chrome Stars at Battlefields today.
After three rounds of matches both teams are still to taste defeat, having won two matches before drawing one apiece.
