Tears for Mambare

DYNAMOS face eternal city enemies Caps United for a third league meeting since Masimba Mambare joined the champions, but the 2012 Soccer Star of the Year runner-up will have to wait a while longer before getting a feel of the blockbuster clash.

An ankle injury rules him out of tomorrow’s tie at the National Sports Stadium.

Mambare joined DeMbare from Highlanders in January last year, in a surprise epic move that shook the Premiership but a catalogue of injuries have continued to sideline the midfielder.

A nagging knee injury kept the former Motor Action star out of action for the large chunk of last season as he made only a handful of appearances for the Glamour Boys.

Just when he was about to return to full fitness, a fresh ankle ailment picked up early last month is now haunting the soft-spoken player.

In a touching interview a distraught Mambare let out his feelings about his predicament.

“It is very frustrating, everyone wants to play in these kind of games but it is unfortunate that I continue to miss the Harare Derby.

“At times you have to be man enough and deal with the situation at hand, accept fate as it is and pray to God.

“But I am getting better day-by-day, though it pains a lot to be kept on the sidelines.

“I just pray and keep hoping that this will go away,” said Mambare.

The 28-year-old midfielder also missed both instalments of the Battle of Zimbabwe clashes against former club Highlanders last season when DeMbare completed a double over their traditional rivals on their way to their fourth consecutive league title.

Mambare’s knee damage has been blamed on Rufaro Stadium’s “killer” artificial turf, whose hard surface has been a source of injury for several players.
