A 19-year-old Sakubva boy last week appeared in court for assaulting his friend whom he had seen walking with his girlfriend.
Ngonidzashe Sando (19) appeared before Mutare magistrate Miss Nyasha Kuture and was convicted on his own plea of guilt of having assaulted Tinashe Chitaka (23) with a steel rod and clenched fists. In passing judgement, Kuture slapped the accused with a $100 fine which should be paid by the 30th of September or he serves a month long jail term.
“This court understands that youthfulness sometimes comes with immaturity, however cases of assault have lately been prevalent, therefore, there is need for the court to pass a deterrent sentence,” she said.
