Teen caged 5 years for raping neighbour (8)

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy raped his neighbour (8) in Manicaland province, Chipinge.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe in a statement on X, said “On the 4th of June 2024 the 8-year-old complainant left home for school and she was crying on the way because she did not have a pen. She met the accused person who was herding cattle and he asked her why she was crying.

“The accused person lured the complainant to a nearby tree on the false pretence that he wanted to give her a pen. He dragged the complainant to a nearby bush where he forcibly removed her clothes and raped her. The complainant screamed for help but to no avail. The accused person left her under the tree after the offence.

“The complainant went back home where she confided in her mother of the offence resulting in the arrest of the accused person.

“The accused person pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment wholly suspended for 5 years on condition of good behaviour.”
