Teen drops out of school to repair cars

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy dropped out of school at Grade Seven to pursue mechanics after failing to secure school fees.

Mufakose-based Tawananyasha Manomano is now earning a living from repairing cars. His life has been a challenge, following the separation of his parents.

“I stay with my father and stepmother with their children.

“Things are not well for me since at times I have nothing to eat.

“I used to go to school and I would be sent away for failure to pay fees,” he said.

The young mechanic said he got the skills from his father, who would repair cars, in his presence.

“I got the skill from my father and I would learn until I was in Grade Seven.

“After writing my Grade Seven examinations, I had to stay at home and, at times, I would buy clothes after getting something.

“However, I would lose some clothes to my other siblings. 

“At times, I would sleep without eating anything.

“My friends are the ones who would give me some clothes at times.”

 Tawananyasha, though, dreams of a good life.

“I wish to have a better life and I hope to get something that can help me earn a better life.

“Repairing cars is helping me since I have no one to support me.”
