TWO Waterfalls teenagers appeared in court yesterday after being implicated in a carjacking that occurred over the weekend.

Simbarashe Tomondo, 18, and Marlon Magara, 19, appeared before Harare magistrate Tafadzwa Miti, who remanded them in custody to January 13. Allegations are that last Friday, the two together with Prosper Tomondo, who is at large, approached the complainant who was driving a Honda Fit taxi in Harare’s CBD and “hired” him to take them to Belvedere.

When they got to Belvedere, they allegedly directed him to a certain house in the suburb. When the taxi driver stopped the car, one of them grabbed the driver by the neck while the other produced a knife and ordered him to move to the passenger seat.

One of them took charge of the car and drove to OK Marimba where they pushed the driver out of his taxi after stealing his wallet and cellphone.

They drove off at high speed.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in the CBD.

Anesu Chirenje prosecuted.
